Women Building Better Communities

Our MissionBlueberry Picking in the Valley for Donation to Community Groups

The Junior League of Halifax is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Halifax reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to voluntarism.

Our Goal

Since its founding in 1933, the strength of the Junior League of Halifax has been its ability to identify a community problem and to develop, implement and staff programs that directly serve the community need.

Through the talents of our diverse membership, we strive to support and enrich the lives of women, children, and families in the community.

Our Community Focus

Our current community focus is reduction of childhood obesity by addressing risk factors associated with this epidemic.  In addition to conducting healthy eating and nutrition workshops with residents of Supportive Housing for Young Mothers in Dartmouth, Junior League volunteers are engaged in a variety of activities associated with healthy living, serving the community while developing their own potential as leaders and having fun.
